Car wraps get your vehicle – and your brand / service noticed, period. This is because people have a tendency to notice things that are different. You drive to and from work every day, paying minimal attention to anything that isn’t important. To get a little more technical, you don’t pay attention to anything that doesn’t cross over your lymen threshold. Sound familiar? That’s because the term subliminal means being below your lymen threshold. Subliminal = unnoticed or unconsciously noticed. As you likely have noticed, your lymen threshold can change from one day to the next. You purchase a new vehicle, and all the sudden everyone else is driving the same car as you. Is that really true? Of course not… probably. What’s actually taking place is that you’re noticing vehicle make/models that you didn’t before.Â
We’re all wired naturally to notice things that are different than we’re used to. It’s a built-in defense mechanism. If a wild tiger appeared in your back yard, would you pay attention to it? Or would you ignore it because you’ve seen a tiger on TV a thousand times?
Much in the same way that you notice a fancy sports car or jacked up truck (depending on where you live, of course – here in West Virginia, the latter isn’t so uncommon) amongst a sea of regular commuter vans, SUVs, and sedans, you also notice a car wrap because it is different.

While it’s true that a car with a wrap on it is likely worth less to someone than a plain, unwrapped car, many people don’t realize that a car wrap is removed exactly how it is applied. A car wrap isn’t like a tattoo – removal isn’t impossible, painful, or difficult. So, don’t let resell value be your reason for not putting an eye-catching car wrap on your vehicle.
The more “all-over” your wrap is, the more it’ll get noticed. So while you can probably get a really inexpensive “wrap” that is really just your phone number and logo on the back window, it won’t get noticed as much as a uniquely designed wrap that covers the entire vehicle. These small decal style ‘wraps’ are much more common as well, and not always an advertisement (think “in memory of” a dearly departed family member as an example). In our opinion here at LovelyPixels, smaller decal-style or spot ‘wraps’ go unnoticed because they fall into the same category in our minds as bumper stickers.
If you’re a fan of billboards, you can think of a car wrap as a moving billboard. A wrapped car isn’t limited to being an advertisement only when you’re driving it. Many of our car wrap clients have taken to parking their car in a different spot than normal – for example, in the front of their building along a busy highway versus in the back near the door they regularly access. If your business is in a niche where you visit your clients at home (moving company, plumbing, housecleaning, etc.) you’ll get to park your ‘mobile advertisement’ in every neighborhood you visit. And think of all the eyes you’ll get on your car wrap if you get pulled over by a police officer! ‘We deliver so fast we’re willing to get speeding tickets for our customers..’
Spot wrap – Covers only a small portion of a vehicle. Can be a simple as a logo and phone number. Likely not as noticeable as a partial or full car wrap to potential customers.
Partial wrap – Usually covers 40-60% of a vehicle. Some people opt to only wrap the front half or back half of their car.
Full wrap – Covers most of the vehicle and will likely get your vehicle noticed the most.
Car wraps are subject to many of the same . Years of sunshine can fade a car wrap, and continued weather can cause it to crack and peel. With proper care you can easily get 5+ years out of a quality car wrap, and after that long you may be ready for a new wrap and/or vehicle, anyway.
Yes, there’s no reason you can’t wrap over your windows, although we don’t recommend wrapping over your front windshield or front side windows as these may not comply with local laws (and also, it’s nice to be able to see where you’re driving). There is also a ‘honeycomb’ method of wrapping that allows you to see out of your windows while onlookers can’t see in.
Parking your wrapped car in a shady spot can be a good way to help protect against fading from sunshine. A wrapped car parked in a garage when not in use is even better, protecting it from both sun and extreme weather. The tradeoff is, of course, that nobody will see it parked in a garage.
LovelyPixels will meet with you either in person or over the phone, discuss your brand and wrap ideas/goals, then get started on the design. Once the design is complete, you’ll get to see a proof / mockup, at which point you can decide to approve as-is or make some tweaks and additions to the design.
An approved design then gets sent to one of our trusted installation partners to be produced and installed on your vehicle. If you already have a trusted car wrap producer, we’re happy to design the wrap and coordinate the installation on your behalf!
LovelyPixels’ team consists of senior talent and collaborative partnerships that are flexible to your individual business goals.
Your customers are either tuning in or tuning out and our only goal is to develop authentic, quality design work that establishes a connection with your audience.
And it all starts with a casual coffee date.
